Pros and cons of Speak Hawaiian Phrases app for iPhone and iPad
Speak Hawaiian Phrases app good for
Im from Hawai`i and am currently taking Hawaiian language classes. I have been waiting for something just like this to aid in proper pronunciation or to grab a phrase on the run. Kaupena Wong is a highly regarded chanter and I knew I couldnt go wrong with his "coaching." Mahalo!
Hello, Works just like it said. Great start! There are like 200 lines.Needs a request box where people could enter requests such as," bon voyage friend" or "i dont blame you for leaving"...
Very easy to use, tons of linguistic help to improve my mana. Mahalo nui loa!
Some bad moments
I love the audio feature. To find a phrase one has to search line by line. Should have a feature that allow user to type in an English phrase to get the Hawaiian phrase.
Bought this to help with vacation but you cant search by English phrase, so unless you already know what youre looking for, you have to read through the entire list.
You should really get a different person for the voice, hes not good for enunciation. I love the words though
I just paid for this and it is not working! There is no sound at all. Please fix this or I will definitely be needing a refund!!!!!!!!!
Most phrases are basic and there arent enough to justify the $2.99 price. App is only good for someone with no knowledge of Hawaiian words or how to pronounce them, so I only learned a few new phrases. Very disappointed. Hasnt been updated since 2011. More phrases please!
There are no instructions and no cross-referencing. Navigation is limited at best. And - NO SOUND! I was looking forward to hear what the phrases actually sound like since there apparently are no apps that provide that capability. A no-star rating is what is deserved.
